Pumpkins

It's that time of the year. Invasion of pumpkins everywhere, and I can't say I dislike it. All sizes and shapes and color variations to fill your senses, it's an explosion of orange on haystacks.

Day #1
Our very first immersion was in a fancy Glass Pumpkin Patch that happens annually in Los Gatos as a fund raiser. Mara was quite interested in the little creations and immediately picked them up and handed them to daddy.

That's how you pick pumpkins, especially acorn-shaped ones.

Grandpa was visiting that weekend, so Mara gained superpowers and got to see some of the high pumpkins up-close.

Some of these creations were quite pretty. What ended the visit was reading the $2700 price tag on one of the larger pumpkins, which made us do some risk-cost estimation and head out soon after.

Day #2
After Sunday Ultimate Frisbee we stumbled upon another fundraiser pumpkin patch nearby. Full of real pumpkins in all their unbreakable glory.
Mara pointed to the different ones - she did not try to pick up the ones that were almost as big as her, I guess she's already learned size/weight/strength ratios that she can handle.

Some of these pumpkins were indeed quite big, although the camera angle also helps a bit ;-)

We started gathering pumpkins on a cart and Mara decided it is her duty to drag it around. She had done quite well before Mommy added that third larger pumpkin, then we needed some Daddy support.

This is where Mara learned that dropping the handle might hit her toes :-)
She put it down nicely the next time.

We also tried their bounce house, but Mara was quite taken aback and kept her "I'm not amused" face on. That changed into a wide smile when we started bouncing all together but you can imagine that video is quite shaky :-)

Day #3
We found this immense pumpkin at work! It actually has a concave backside which made it even more interesting.
Elena is happy cause she just had a hearty breakfast! Half an hour before
you would have seen a different face.

Greg doesn't know how to smile in the mornings.
